Type: Undertakings

Registrant: This public notification has been anonymized as required by section 39.3(4) of the Health Professions Act, on the basis of an admission by the Registrant that they suffer from a health condition that impairs their ability to practise.

Date: November 28, 2019

Status: In Effect

Nature of Action: The Registrant agreed to undertakings under section 36(1) of the Health Professions Act restricting them from conducting psychological assessments and confirming their agreement to take appropriate steps to manage their ongoing therapy practice to address the potential impact of their health condition.

Reason: The Registrant’s agreement resolved an investigation initiated by the Inquiry Committee on its own motion under section 33(4) of the Health Professions Act into concerns about the Registrant’s competence to perform psychological assessments generally. In the course of the investigation, the Registrant voluntarily took steps to address identified concerns arising from a review of particular assessment files, and the Registrant agreed to discontinue her assessment practice. The Inquiry Committee was satisfied that the public would be protected by a broad restriction on the Registrant’s future practice, together with agreed measures to accommodate the Registrant’s admitted health condition to protect against its potential impact on therapy clients.
