Type: Undertakings

Registrant: Dr. Lloyd Shewchuk (Registrant No. 1164)

Date: May 20, 2021

Status: In Effect

Nature of Action: The Registrant voluntarily agreed to undertakings under section 36(1)(d) of the Health Professions Act placing conditions on his practice. The Registrant voluntarily agreed to the supervision of his practice and to limit the scope of his practice to short-term psychological treatment, neurocognitive screening evaluations, and other similar types of professional services as approved by his supervisor. He has also agreed to abstain from providing independent neuropsychological assessments for the courts or other similar types of assessments intended for adjudicative purposes.

Reasons: The College received a complaint regarding an independent neuropsychological assessment that the Registrant completed for a client’s disability claim. In the course of investigating that complaint, the Committee had broader concerns about the Registrant’s practise of psychology and opened their own motion investigation under section 33(4) of the Act. Based on information gathered during its investigation, the Committee decided that the Registrant was able to continue providing psychological services within a limited scope of practice and under the supervision of a supervisor appointed by the College.
