April 20, 2022

As announced in the October 2021 edition of the Chronicle, the College Board approved the Continuing Competency Program (CCP): Annual Practice Review and Quiz beginning in 2022. The College urges registrants to participate as early as possible to ensure compliance with this requirement.

The questionnaire and quiz are intended to be educational for registrants and will also inform development of additional College practice support resources and continuing professional development needs of psychologists. Registrants are asked to reflect on their own known risks to competence as well as known protective and supportive factors that have been identified in the emerging scientific literature and to think through topics such as changes to legislation that affect practice, emerging areas of clinical practice, and other aspects of practice that have resulted in either complaints to the College or contact with Practice Support.

Attestation that the questionnaire and quiz have been completed will be required at renewal. The College will track, by registration number, which psychologists have completed the questionnaire and quiz requirement so that compliance may be verified should a registrant be selected for the CCP audit.

Registrants can participate in the questionnaire by selecting the heading “Annual Practice Review and Quiz” in the Registrant Portal at: https://www.collegeofpsychologists.bc.ca/registrant/home.php

PHO Advice on Mask Use and Infection Prevention & Control Guidance for Health Professionals

Please be advised that this morning the BC Centre for Disease Control has confirmed and publicly posted advice from Dr. Bonnie Henry, Provincial Health Officer, regarding ongoing mask use by health professionals. That advice includes the following statement:

“In addition to following masking requirements established by employers and operators as part of their workplace communicable disease plans, I recommend the continued use of medical masks by practitioners and patients/clients in medical offices, private practices and other settings when there is close, in-person patient/client contact. As well, I recommend a continued focus by health care professionals on diligent hand washing, immunization, respecting personal space, regular cleaning and disinfection, ensuring appropriate ventilation, and staying home when sick.”
